Academy pair Jide Maduako and Jack Marriott (pictured) were on target for the second time in three days and second-year pro Ronan Murray was also on the scoresheet as a Town reserves side beat Tottenham 3-1 in a friendly at their Spurs Lodge training ground this afternoon. Maduako and Marriott both netted as the U18s beat Portsmouth on Saturday. |

Tamás Priskin netted a second half penalty but it wasn’t enough to stop a strong Town reserves side from losing 2-1 to Arsenal in a friendly at Playford Road. After an almost chance free first half, Ignasi Miquel and Ozan Ozyakup put the Gunners, who included former Blue Fabian Wilnis’s nephew Kyle Ebecilio as a sub, two goals in front after the break. |

Keith Andrews’s fifth goal for the Blues saw Paul Jewell’s men to a fortunate 1-0 home victory over Portsmouth. Town were a pale shadow of their usual selves for much of the game and Pompey missed a number of good chances before the Irishman netted the winner from close range in the 69th minute. |

Colchester Friendly Abandoned Tue 26th Jul 2011 22:03
Town’s pre-season friendly at Colchester United was abandoned with eight minutes to go at 0-0 after U’s midfielder Andy Bond suffered a facial injury in a collision with his keeper Mark Cousins. Bond required lengthy treatment with the injury considered so severe that an ambulance was brought to the edge of the pitch causing the abandonment, with Bond eventually helped across to it with blood streaming down his face. |
